Grosvenor Place

Bath

Grosvenor House is a distinguished Grade I listed Georgian townhouse, with no. 18 Grosvenor Place located central to this prominent landmark building located along London Road, in Bath.

Originally designed by the Bath architect John Eveleigh and dating from 1791, the house was conceived as part of an ambitious late-18th-century scheme overlooking a planned pleasure park to the rear. Executed in finely detailed limestone ashlar beneath a slate mansard roof, the building is a highly accomplished example of Bath’s formal Georgian architecture, notable for its refined classical proportions, blind bays and decorative cast-iron metalwork.

Studio four point ten were appointed at the outset of the client’s purchase to lead the sensitive renovation and repair of the property, alongside the careful remodelling of its interiors. Our approach was to respect the historic fabric and architectural hierarchy of this important listed building while adapting it for contemporary family life.

The design set to introduce generous, open-plan kitchen and living spaces alongside bespoke fitted joinery and furniture, informed by the craftsmanship and grandeur historically associated with townhouses of this stature.
