HISTORIC RESTORATION - PEASMARSH, EAST SUSSX

The renovation of a Grade II listed building in East Sussex, where we were appointed to investigate a number of structural issues effecting this C17th timber frame building, alongside a few discrete modern interventions within the fabric. The project has now received Planning and Listed Building Consent for the roof replacement and facade repair works, alongside internal alterations to the structure, made possible through our comprehensive building assessment and detailed strategy of repair works.

These modifications are required to address long standing structural failures in the building and to improve the performance of the listed building to make it more comfortable to live in. The proposals address challenges around access and numerous poorly conceived historical repairs that have contributed to the deterioration of the fabric and overall impracticality of its spaces.

This kind of project is typical of many older buildings we visit and work on, where the strain of time has begun to reveal failings in the older fabric, and the demands of modern living require a thoughtful and considered rethink around how best to care for and intervene in these buildings. This cottage is already bursting with character, and we look forward to seeing where this journey will lead us.
