NEW BUILD - THORNBURY, SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Studio four point ten were appointed as architects for works to this rural property on the outskirts of Thornbury, just north of Bristol and nestled into the landscape of the Severn Vale and escarpment. The project seeks to create a new family home with innovation, low energy and low carbon design at its heart. The brief also centres around creating a stronger connection between building and landscape, home and garden, with a strong landscape proposal worked up alongside the building design.

Studio four point ten have great experience working on properties in more rural locations, and this site requires the sensitivity of approach demanded of a design under the influence of the Thornbury Conservation Area and its heritage values as an historic market town identity. This historical significance, as well as the town’s strong relationship with its surrounding greenbelt land are highly prized by the local community and this has taken a central role in our design process.

The scheme has been submitted for planning approval with South Gloucestershire Council.
